International accomplishments

 

          At an international level, the Department has the following accomplishments:

  • Participation in international research projects within the 5th Framework European Programme (PECO’93 Programme: EROSLOPE (EVSV-CT92-0179) "Slope instability, erosion and solid material transport in steep catchments - “ Laboratory and field experimentations" with the theme: "Sediment sources and delivery from the mountaineous and sumountaineous drainage basin" (1994-1995), coordinated by the University of Berlin), 6th Framework Programme (Partner in the European Project EFI+ "Improvement and extension of the European Fish Index" through contract no. 044096, financed by the European Community via the University of Vienna, Austria (2007-2008).
  • Publication of articles in ISI rated magazines (Catena, Geomorphology, Cold Regions Science and Technology, edited by the Elsevier group from Holland; Earth Surface Landforms and Processes, Journal of Quaternary Science edited by the John Wiley group; Zeitschrift fur Geomorphologie, Germany);
  • Contributions in editing books at prestigious publishers abroad (Dams in Geomorphology, Elsevier, 2002; Soil Erosion in Europe, 878 p., 2006, Geomorphological Monography of the Carpathians, 2009, Slovakia);
  • Partnerships, specialists and student exchanges with similar institutions from abroad: The Department of Geography of the Durham University, Great Britain (the 4th most important department in Great Britain), with whom we have PhD students and professors exchanges (lectures, field activities, common research projects), The Department of Geography of the Illes Baleares University, Spain, Le Havre University, the Artois University, France, the  Liege University, Belgium, and the  University of Bari, Italy.
